Meet Annie, a beautiful five-year-old cow whose remarkable journey has brought her home to JP Farm Animal Sanctuary.
As a tiny calf, Annie was rescued from an auction in Pennsylvania by the wonderful team at Animal Manor Sanctuary, where she spent the last five years surrounded by love and kindness.
After her longtime companion, a blind horse, moved to another sanctuary, Diane Donahue, Executive Director of Animal Manor Sanctuary, wanted Annie to finally have the chance to live with other cows. Through Farm Sanctuary’s Animal Adoption Network, Oscar came across Annie’s story and after meeting both Annie and Diane, he knew she belonged here at JP.
With lots of planning, veterinary visits, and transportation, Annie is finally home. She’s been settling in between Allie and Copper, two of our rescued dairy cows, carefully exploring every inch of her new surroundings with her sweet, curious personality (and the cutest little curled tongue!). When she is not being groomed or grooming the others, Annie can be seen playing with her ball.
We are so grateful to Diane and everyone at Animal Manor Sanctuary for loving Annie so deeply and trusting us with her next chapter. We are also thankful to Farm Sanctuary for making this beautiful connection possible, and to Rocky Barry for documenting Annie’s arrival and sharing her story of settling into her new home. We invite you to watch Rocky’s short documentary, to leave comments, and share.

Filmmaker's Statement
“Our goal with Let’s Get Annie was not merely to document animal transport, but to capture the quiet, profound moments where trust is built. By placing the camera at Annie’s eye level, we invite the audience into her sensory world—feeling the hesitation of stepping off a trailer, the quiet anticipation of entering a pasture, and the profound joy of meeting a herd.”
“I made this documentary to move viewers from passive observation to deep empathy. Annie’s journey shows us that farm animals possess distinct personalities, deep social needs, and a capacity for joy that deserves protection. Through Lynn and Oscar’s dedicated work at JP Farm Animal Sanctuary, we hope this story inspires audiences to view all animals with fresh eyes and compassionate hearts.”
